Strong finish: Camden Hills secures lopsided victories

With regular season done, Windjammer girls look forward to postseason play

The Camden Hills basketball teams wrapped their regular seasons on Thursday, Feb. 7, as both emerged with lopsided victories.

The Windjammer girls came away with a 57-21 road victory over the Shipbuilders, while the Camden Hills boys defended their home court with a high-scoring, 80-60 win at Rockport.

The Camden Hills girls are playoff-bound, while the boys will not qualify for postseason play.

The following is a recap of both games:

Girls

Camden Hills 57, Morse 21

At Bath Feb. 7, the Windjammers wrapped the regular season with a win over the Shipbuilders. Camden Hills led 22-11, 36-13 and 43-16 at the quarter breaks.

Kassie Krul scored 14 points for the winners, while Grace O’Connell added 11; Seanna Montgomery, eight; Miranda Dunton, Audrey Bowman and Olivia Brown, six; Mila Bonometti, four; and Kaylyn Krul, two.

Julia Goddard netted nine points for Morse, while Marija Medenica added eight and Dory Kulis and Sydney Hollingsworth two.

The Windjammers were 4-of-9 (44 percent) from the foul line, while the Shipbuilders were 2-of-8 (25 percent).

Boys

Camden Hills 80, Morse 60

At Rockport Feb. 7, the Windjammers finished their season with a 20-point win over the Shipbuilders. Camden Hills led 20-13, 36-31 and 58-46 at the quarter breaks.

Jeremy Fraser scored 17 points for Camden Hills, while Ryan Clifford added 12; Ionut Lodge, 10; Matt Nickerson, nine; Michael Kremin, eight; Michael McGeady, six; Jon Runnion-Bareford, four; Liam O’Neal, three; and Trajan Gilson and Casey Messer, two.

Gabe Aucoin scored 15 points for Morse, while Thomas Warren added 14; Arius Eich, 13; Josh ter Mors, eight; Corey Larmon and Kaleb Jackson, three; and Brogan Shaw and Jansen Morrison, two.

The Windjammers were 10-of-13 (77 percent) from the foul line, while the Shipbuilders were 13-of-15 (87 percent).
