Strand brings Bolshoi Ballet’s 'Nutcracker' to town Dec. 15

Rockland — A captured-live high definition broadcast of "The Nutcracker," performed by the Bolshoi Ballet, will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St.

On Christmas Eve, Marie’s Nutcracker doll magically transforms into a prince and together their wonderful adventure begins. "The Nutcracker" invites audiences of all ages on a magical journey, through a world of enchantment, complete with dancing snowflakes and dolls that have come to life, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s beloved score. The timeless holiday classic returns to cinemas this December.

The Bolshoi Ballet is an internationally-renowned classical ballet company, based at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. Founded in 1776, it is among the world's oldest ballet companies. The Bolshoi is recognized as one of the foremost ballet companies in the world, and its performance style is typically identified as being colorful and bold, combining technique and athleticism with expressiveness and dramatic intensity.
