Rockport — Sailfish in water are wicked fast. And, as it turns out, the Midcoast youth swimmers who represent that animal are too.

The Penobscot Bay YMCA Sailfish youth swim team hosted its final regularly-scheduled home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 5 against the Downeast Family YMCA Dolphins of Ellsworth and there were plenty of strong performances — including three more record-setting efforts.

Rowan Stewart, 10, broke her fourth individual girls 9-10 age group Sailfish record of the 2018-2019 season, this time in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:42.72 bested previous record holder and teammate Sophie Cyr's record of 2:50.54 set on Nov. 4, 2018.

Rowan's older sister, Oona Stewart, earned her first individual Sailfish record, ironically, also in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:28.75 set a record in the girls 11-12 age group. Previous record holder and teammate Lily Mott held the record of 2:29.71 from Feb. 24, 2018.

Larkin Mott, 8, broke his own 8-and-younger boys Sailfish record set in the 200 breaststroke on Dec. 17, 2018. His new time of 4:16.53 replaces his original record of 4:20.66.
