Statewide 'Spring Ring' calls for handbell players

Workshops included in day-long March 15 event

More than 150 handbell ringers from all over the state of Maine gathered at Auburn Middle School for the 2018 Maine Spring Ring.

Auburn — Handbell ringers from all over the state of Maine will gather together Saturday, March 28, at Auburn Middle School for the 2020 Maine Spring Ring. All Maine handbell ringers are welcomed and encouraged to participate in this day-long event. The early bird registration deadline is Feb. 25 and the final registration deadline is March 15. The schedule includes a variety of educational workshops lead by guest clinicians, as well as instructional rehearsals of the massed-rung pieces with Area 1 clinicians Kim Visbaras of Auburn and Daniel Moore, retired director of the Wheeler School Ringers, of Providence, R.I.

The day will conclude with a concert that is free of charge and open to the public. The concert will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Auburn Middle School gymnasium, 38 Falcon Drive. The audience will be treated to eight massed-rung pieces, along with solo performances by several individual ensembles. Special music to honor Maine’s Bicentennial will also be featured. A free-will offering will be collected for those who wish to help with expenses.
