Hope — It was a night under the stars in the Hope Elementary School gym Saturday, April 5, as the eighth-grade class staged a dinner, raffle and silent and live auctions to raise money for its trip to Quebec in June.

The theme of the evening was “Starry Night,” with silver stars decorating the stage and starry table decorations. Guests enjoyed chicken and rice or a tofu and vegetable entree, plus homemade desserts. They were invited to take part in a raffle and silent auction before the main event, a live auction of 15 items with auctioneer Rosey Gerry.

Silent auction items included massages and manicures, movie passes and meals, car services, pet services, babysitting, a cord of firewood, gift baskets and more.

The live auction featured primarily higher-value goods and services, such as a night at the Lord Camden Inn, a three-month family membership to the County Inn fitness center, a biplane ride for two, lobster dinners afloat, artwork and several other items.

A preliminary profit of $9,300 from the event was announced on the auction's Facebook page as of Monday, April 7.
