St. George — Kinney-Melquist American Legion Post-34 in St. George encourages younger male and female veterans to join post and share in its community service and memories.

In May, Post-34 honored two special veterans who had served in combat many years ago. Paul Dalrymple served in the Army in World War II and Joe Kirk was a Marine during the Korean War in the 1950s. In addition, post veterans placed flags in a St. George cemetery for Memorial Day and marched in the parade in Tenants Harbor honoring the service of local veterans with the entire community.

All veterans -- with a particular invitation to those who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, or anywhere during the last 15 years -- are welcome to discuss joining the post by contacting Adjutant Jan Gaudio at 594-0025 or Bob Branco, rbrancoddg2@gmail.com.
