Rockport — The Penobscot Bay YMCA Sailfish youth swimmers dove into another winter season with their annual Spooktacular home meet on Saturday, Oct. 27.

It also was the first meet of the season with new head coach Morgan Schreiber and assistant coach Jacqueline Biddle.

Teams from the Casco Bay Region YMCA of Freeport, Downeast Family YMCA of Ellsworth and Mid-Maine Dolphins of the Waterville YMCA attended.

There were 146 swimmers who participated, including 50 Sailfish.

The following photos are from the 'Spooktacular' meet. The complete results from the 'Spooktacular' and USA meets can be viewed by clicking the links below.

Additionally, 10 Sailfish swimmers participated in the USA "Rock the Blocks" swim meet on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3-4, hosted by Coastal Maine Aquatics at the Donald Richards Pool in Cape Elizabeth.

The Sailfish swimmers included Cabot Adams, Emma Cyr, Sophie Cyr, Simon Fox, Kailin Fuller, Flynn Layton, London Nicolet, Lulu Van Lonkhuyzen, Sarah Van Lonkhuyzen and Sadie Woodruff.

Every swimmer had at least one personal-best time and a few had several best times.

Among the athletes, the Cyr sisters broke a Sailfish record.

Emma, 13, broke the girls ages 13-14 1,650 freestyle (one mile) record with a time of 20:10.58. It was only her second time swimming the event and she shaved 58 seconds off her original time. The previous record was by teammate Sadie Woodruff at 20:29.22 in Feb. 4, 2018.

Sophie, 10, broke a 17-year old record in the girls ages 9-10 200 backstroke in 2:50.54. It was Sophie's first time swimming the event in short course yards. The previous Sailfish record of 2:54.52 was by Allie Parent on Jan. 6, 2001.
