South Thomaston — Selectmen are asking citizens who are interested in serving on the school board to contact the town.

Jason McLean resigned his post earlier this month because of the amount of time required to be an effective board member, South Thomaston Board Chair Walter Reitz said Tuesday, April 23.

McLean was elected as a write-in candidate at the March 2018 town meeting to a two-year term on the Regional School Unit 13 Board, succeeding Jesse Butler.

Reitz said citizens interested in serving on the school board can contact any of the selectmen, who include Cheryl Waterman and Jan Gaudio.

South Thomaston has one representative on the 10-member board that covers Rockland, Owls Head, Thomaston and Cushing, as well as South Thomaston.

Reitz said selectmen will meet with candidates in a public meeting and then vote on a selection.

The RSU 13 Board is in the midst of budget reviews for 2019-2020.
