Rockland — A judge set bail Tuesday afternoon, May 26, at $25,000 cash for a South Thomaston man accused of sexually assaulting a child over a period of several years.

Adam D. Grierson, 33, was arrested May 22 and charged with 25 counts of gross sexual assault, one count of unlawful sexual touching and one count of aggravated assault.

The allegations are that the offenses began in 2014 and continued until 2019 and involved a child younger than 12 years old. Rockland Detective Sgt. Joel Neal was the investigating officer.

Grierson made his initial appearance May 26 in the Knox County court. Judge Paul Mathews agreed to Assistant District Attorney Lynn Madison's request to set bail at $25,000 cash, citing the public safety request. Grierson remains at the Knox County Jail in Rockland.

The suspect was convicted in 2014 to to 15 months in jail with all but 60 days suspended for one count of gross sexual assault. In that case, he was convicted of having sex with a female inmate in 2012 while he worked as a Knox County Jail corrections officer. He was also placed on probation for two years.

In October 2015, he was sentenced to serve eight months for violating probation for a domestic violence assault conviction.

Kinda hard not to put two and two together, Tasha, when he has been convicted of this before.  But your right.

Shouldn't judge anyone regardless of their criminal past.

oh thank you for this clarification. You're right, I ought not  jump so fast to believe what I'm reading, but how do we know what's true or not? Anytime a child is involved it hurts my heart to hear, I guess that's why I reacted. sorry......

It is unfortunate, but its also unfortunate not to have the full story or get the right one in custody. He is being wrongfully accused by his mad ex-wife that is nothing but jelouse and phyco. so unfortunetly there is two victims in this situation and its a matter of time before things come out of the wood works with the truth. so please don't believe everything you read or see..INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!

Bad news to hear this. Very sad for the child to have had this occur. Hope this child gets therapy paid for by this young man, who also needs therapy...lots of it. He may have had the same experience when he was a child...? What a strange world we live in where we hurt each other. I prefer it when we are helping each other which is indeed taking place, too.
