Solstice season contra dance

Thomaston — The monthly contra dance will celebrate the winter solstice and holiday season Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. in gym of the Thomaston Academy building, Main Street/Route 1.

Local band Playgroup will perform, and John McIntire of Unity will teach and call all dances. No partner or experience is needed. Celtic-rooted Lincoln County band Playgroup features Abraham Stimson on fiddle, piano and bass; Alden Robinson on fiddle; Julia Plumb on fiddle, feet and hurdy-gurdy; and Zack Davis on tenor banjo, fiddle and percussion.
