Soccer referee classes offered March 22-23 at PITCH

By Staff | Feb 08, 2020

Warren —

A course is being offered in the area for those interested in becoming a United States Soccer Federation referee.

The course will gain one official certification, and allow one to referee games played under USSF rules. There are different requirements to referee high school or college games.

The course is being offered at the PITCH on Sunday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The course will cover the rules of the game, mechanics of how to referee, equipment needed and how to get assignments. This course will be a grassroots course, the starting level, and costs $115.

The season for club (USSF) soccer is mainly in the spring and fall, and games are played locally. Referees are paid for the games, with the amount dependent on the age group and place in the referee team.

More opportunities will be available as referees become more experienced, move up in level and do more challenging games.
