Owls Head — Old farm buildings at 508 North Shore Dr. are on the docket to be demolished later this year.

The Owls Head Board of Selectmen announced Aug. 19 that it was setting Dec. 1 deadline for either repair or demolition of the buildings on the Sno Farm property that have been declared dangerous by the board.

Town attorney Fred Newcomb III noted in a letter to the board Aug. 6 that although it is not known whether property owners Tiffany Fifield and Peter Fifield will appeal the board's decision, Tiffany has already applied for and received a demolition permit.

He further noted, however, that Tiffany indicated she does not have the resources to make the necessary repairs nor to properly demolish the buildings, and Peter is attempting to divorce himself from ownership and responsibility for the property.

"It is not too soon to consider the possibility that the town may ultimately have to arrange for the demolition," Newcomb stated, adding that if that becomes necessary, the town can secure its position by having the Fifields sign a "Consent to Removal," which would be recorded in the Registry of Deeds.

He said that would become a lien on the property that would facilitate recovery of the town's expenditures.

makes me sad, use to be a nice little place.  I use to stay winter nights with Burdell Strout and her brother..  The place was full of nice old antiques.  Burdell use to say it waS not farm at all.  Sure miss a lot of the old maine characters.  They don't exist any longer, and folks from away, aren't characters
