“She persisted in her quest to reach the shore and sing the anthem of the sea,” an award-winning quilt by Sarah Ann Smith of Hope, is a finalist in the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival.

Hampton, Va. — Quilt artist Sarah Ann Smith of Hope has been accepted as a finalist in the 2018 Imagine Quilt Competition at the 29th annual Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, set for Thursday through Sunday, Feb. 22 through 25, at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Smith’s quilt “She persisted in her quest to reach the shore and sing the anthem of the sea” will be on display at the show along with many other quilts, all competing for prizes. Winners will be selected at the show and announced online Feb. 22 at quiltfest.com.

Besides the competition quilts on display, the Quilt Festival will feature workshops and lectures taught by a renowned faculty, a wearable art competition, a fashion show, Game Zone, a Merchant's Mall and a beautiful collection of special exhibits including many presented by local quilt guilds.

“She persisted in her quest to reach the shore and sing the anthem of the sea,” which was named Best in Judged at Maine Quilts 2017 last July, took first place in the Naturescapes category at January’s Road to California Quilt show in Ontario, one of the largest shows in the country.
