Camden — Midcoast Community Chorus invites those looking to ads color to their lives to sing with approximately 150 others and give voice to music from various cultures, traditions and musical genres. No audition is necessary. Whether new to the area, a novice singer or a returning one, all are invited to register for MCC’s fall semester.

Registration will run 5 to 6:15 p.m. on the first two choral rehearsal evenings — Mondays, Sept. 10 and 17 — in the Fellowship Room of First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St./Route 1. Rehearsals follow immediately in the sanctuary and will continue every Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Weekly attendance is the norm. A semester fee of $80 covers the cost of music and rehearsal space; scholarships and payment plans are available. To save time, register in advance at and get the music portfolio on arrival.

New voices and singers of all ages and abilities, from age 13 years and older, are welcome. MCC, celebrating its 10th year, has a mission is to “Sing as a community for the community.” Its members come from as many as 17 Midcoast communities.

MCC is under the leadership of Artistic Director Steve Weston, with Assistant Director Sean Fleming as accompanist. Experienced singers have an opportunity to sing more complex music and may audition for the 30-member MCC Chorale, also under the direction of Weston. Audience members at every concert are invited to sing a selection of familiar or teachable songs, thereby generating an experience of nearly a thousand people singing together in community.

The concert in preparation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13. For more information, visit the website or call 975-0852.
