Rockland — The Courier Gazette is happy to introduce Christine Simmonds as the newest reporter to the staff.

Simmonds is a long-time resident of Rockland and an active part of the community. She grew up reading the Courier, and has said that working for the paper seems like a childhood dream come true.

Simmonds graduated from Rockland District High School and attended college at the University of Maine at Farmington. She earned a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education English.

For many years, Simmonds was a teacher. She has taught seventh grade English, middle school and high school special education, and preschool.

She loves to support the teenage thespians, as she was active in drama all four years of high school.

In her free time, Christine enjoys reading, playing with her cats, and spending time with her family. She also attends CrossFit style classes at CJ Strength in Rockport with her mother, Diane Zollo.
