‘Silent Maine’ author in Waldoboro

Jan 04, 2019

Waldoboro — Waldoboro Public Library will start its 2019 Speaker Series with author Alden Weigelt Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. He will read from and talk about his book, “Silent Maine Reminders.”

The presentation will be followed by a chance to speak with the author. “Silent Maine Reminders” is a compilation of the stories behind the many “silent reminders” of the service and sacrifices of people from Maine.

The State of Maine is one of the least populated states in the union, yet Weigelt illustrates many examples of how much service and sacrifice exists here. These reminders may be a memorial, a place of historical significance or the personal account of a friend or relative. Weigelt challenges readers to explore their own circles of existence, discover their own "Silent Reminders" and validate them.

The book will be available for purchase and signing. Snow date is Jan. 22. This program is free and open to the public. Waldoboro Public Library is located at 958 Main St./Route 220. For more information, call 832-4484.
