Are you looking for some bunny to love? We have several wonderful rabbits ready to hop into your life. A good Samaritan brought in Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail, three baby bunnies she rescued from a stranger who was giving them away, carrying them around the streets of Camden in an insulated lunch box filled with ice. The poor things were so bedraggled and scared.

Lucky for them, she brought them to the shelter and they received the medical care they needed. They are now safe and comfortable, getting plenty of food and water and the fruits and vegetables they love while they wait for their new homes. We also have a 2-year old gray and white rabbit named Regina looking for a home. Regina lived with kids and the family dog. She’d love to have a new family to love. Zeus and Hermes are looking for rabbit-friendly homes, too. They are two albino Giant Flemish rabbits that came to us through a state seizure. They are very friendly and active bunnies. Rabbits may not be the right pet for everyone, but they just might be the right pet for you. Stop by and meet some bunnies. The PMHS staff is happy to tell you all about them.

Our annual Eat for Pete’s Sake event is right around the corner on Thursday, Sept/ 13. Dine out at one of the participating local restaurants on this special day and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to PMHS to help us feed the roughly 150 animals at the shelter at any given time. Look who has signed up: Park Street Grille, Blue Sky Cantina, Thomaston Café, The Haven, Hole in the Wall Bagels, Atlantic Baking Co., In Good Company, Athens Pizzeria, Offshore Restaurant, Suzuki’s Sushi Bar, Home Kitchen Café and Primo Restaurant. Eat for Pete’s sake so the animals at the shelter know where their next meal is coming from. Bon(e) appetit!

Helping homeless animals is as easy as taking a walk at our annual Whisker Walk and Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Harbor Park in Rockland. Join fellow animal lovers and shelter supporters and walk (with or without a dog) to help homeless animals. After the walk you can enjoy our Try your Luck Agility course, face painting, tie-dye doggie bandanas, Doggy Day Spa, silent auction, meet other rescue groups and more. Register now at crowdrise.com/2018WhiskerWalkand start helping us save more lives by collecting pledges from friends, family and coworkers. Register online and you’re guaranteed an event T-shirt.

Wish list: 6-inch paper plates, Clorox wipes, ziplock bags (gallon & quart), paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags (13- and 33-gallon), canned cat food (poultry pate style), and gift certificates to Walmart, Staples, and other local businesses.
