Waldoboro — Now that the snow has melted and roadside trash is visible, Waldoboro's Shellfish Committee is calling all Waldoboro residents and more to help clean up streets, parks and trails.

From Quarry Hill, the Town Forest, Dutch Neck Marine Park to West Main Street, Jefferson Street or Mill Street, all are invited to come and join the effort to beautify Waldoboro this spring.

The Town of Waldoboro Shellfish Committee will offer four "Keep Waldoboro Beautiful" events this spring. The Commercial Shellfish Harvesters will do a shoreline clean-up for its conservation hours.

The committee is also reaching out to active and concerned citizens to take to the streets... this would be all the debris that eventually heads to the river.

The following event times include:

  • Saturday, April 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, June 5, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The start of all events is at the Town Landing on Pine Street. This is for people to sign in, get bags and to let people know where interested parties would like to pitch in their efforts.

From there, people can disperse and come back at any time, before the end of the event, and the debris can be thrown in a waiting dump truck.

For more information, feel free to contact the town Shellfish Warden via 380-6144,, and through their Facebook page.
