Seventh Midcoast Breast Cancer Classic rousing success on, off course

Tournament benefits breast cancer support services

Rockland — The seventh annual Midcoast Breast Cancer Classic on Friday, Aug. 11 proved a rousing success — on and off the course.

In an ongoing partnership between the Rockland Women’s Golf Association and Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation, the golf tournament has raised more than $75,000 to benefit breast cancer support services in the Midcoast — prior to this year's event.

The four-golfer scramble at the Rockland Golf Club saw plenty of topnotch play.

The team and individual results included:

Men's Division: Bill Barbour, Phil Lambert, Robert Griffin and Gary L'Hommedieu finished first gross 57; Dante Ravelli, Kris Welt, Ewie Greet and Chad Place, second gross 60; Parker Hilchey, Garrett Hilchey, John Miller and Andrew MacCaffrey, third gross 61; and Dave Andrus, Mike Bonzagni, Warren Marshall and Greg Jones, fourth gross 63.

Women's Division: Nancy Carlson, Diane Herring, Nancy Hart and Bailey Plourde finished first gross 61; Helen Plourd, Jean Sweetser, Marie Cates and Traci Biere, second gross 68; Liz Coffin, Karen Bramford, Kathy Constantine and Anne Pooler, third gross 70; and Kathy Sprowl, Sue Wootton, Jean Brown and Marty Jones, fourth gross 70.

Mixed Division: Jamie Boutin, Nikki Boutin, Kim Felt and James Anderson finished first gross 59; Bob Sommers, Diana Sommers, Tim Flanagan and Chandler Woodman, second gross 64; Tony McKim, Sarah Tolman, Darryl Day and Samantha Hill, third gross 65; John Spear, Leslie Spear, Kathy MacPherson and Dean Sasek, fourth gross 66; and Julie Landwehr, Peter Landwehr, Brenda Berry and Charles "Chum" Berry, fifth gross 70.

The pin winners were: Bailey Plourde, 3-8, and James Anderson, 7-11, on the fifth hole; and Sue Hodgkins, 5-2, and John Spear, 6-5 1/4, on the 18th.
