Rockland — Two speakers will talk about different aspects of grief and renewal at the MidCoast Senior Expo Friday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 210 Rankin St. The free expo features 30 different senior-focused exhibitors, antique appraisals by Daniel Buck and free coffee all day. Lunch will be available to purchase from the Elks kitchen.

At 10 a.m., speaker and author Lucille Ann Meltz, an elder widow who recently published "The Elder Widow’s Walk: A Personal Inner Journey and Guide for Bereaved Widows 65 and Beyond," will speak. She will talk about what it means to become a widow after 65, what helps, and how widows can begin to renew their lives, as well as how friends and family can help.

At 11 a.m., Dr. Greggus Yahr, PhD, DCMHS, will discuss the differences between the onset of Alzheimer's and/or dementia and depression. He will also talk about our typical responses to such things as loss, grief, and the stress of life's transitions.
