Rockland — On May 11, the Second Sunday series at Harbor Square Gallery will celebrate Mother’s Day by hosting a show featuring singer/ songwriter Putnam Smith in an unplugged setting.

Doors will open at the downtown gallery, 374 Main St. at 12:30 p.m. and the show will start at 1 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door; light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Smith is a modern/old-fashioned troubadour who hails from Portland. A nationally touring performer, he brings an affable charm to the stage and sings his original songs accompanying himself of guitar, mandolin and his grandfather’s banjo. From major folk festivals to house concerts, Smith is a rising star on the folk scene.

Musical hosts for the show will be John and Rachel Nicholas, who have been hosting the Second Sunday series since they moved to Maine a year and a half ago. They will provide a short opening set of compelling songs and harmonies.
