Rockland — Residents in the South End have been helping a woman from New York City, who lost her cat while visiting her parents on Ocean Street, Saturday, Nov. 30.

Buddy Cat is a five-year-old, gray and white cat. He is wearing a black harness.

Buddy started his life as a feral cat in the Bronx. He was adopted by Kate Foretek, who works as a sound engineer with the Metropolitan Opera and "Waitress," the musical on Broadway.

Foretek was in Rockland visiting her parents, Rich Foretek and Lynn Yonally, who recently became part-time residents of the South End.

As she was bringing the cat from the car to the house, he became spooked and jumped away from her. They followed him at a distance for a while, but lost track of him.

Foretek eventually had to return to her home state, heartbroken over the loss of her pet. She had enlisted the help of neighbors in the South End, going door-to-door and putting up signs.

"I am so impressed with the Rockland community," she said. "I have never experienced this much help from people who don't even know me. It has restored my faith in humanity."

If anyone finds Buddy, call Foretek at 610 428 3331 or bring the cat in to the Pope Memorial Humane Society. Buddy has a microchip that the humane society staff can read and contact his owner.

Foretek has traveled with Buddy extensively and even walked him on a leash. She said he has enjoyed his life living indoors with her in New York.

Are you kidding, if this cat is from the Bronx he should be easy to find.  Just follow the trail of local bruised and battered cats. He probably skipped to Jersey by now.

Kate, I hope Buddy is found and you have met the true friendship of the Rockland Community.  It far out weighs the ignorant ones.
