Lewiston — Sixteen Penobscot Bay YMCA Sailfish swimmers represented the Central Division — and themselves — in the annual YMCA All-Star Meet on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Bates College.

The Sailfish helped the Central finish in first with 511.5 points. The North finished second at 305 points and the South third at 264.5 points.

Rowan Stewart (50 breaststroke), George Bickham (100 free and 100 individual medley) and Phoebe Root (500 free) nabbed first-lace finishes.

Additionally, two more Sailfish records were all broken — by Phoebe Root and Oona Stewart.

Phoebe Root posted a new senior girls 500 free time of 5:43.93. The previous record holder was Ella Scott at 5:45.01 on Feb. 28, 2014. It was Root's second Sailfish record of the season.

Oona Stewart captured her third girls ages 11-12 record of the season, this time in the 100 back. Her time of 1:07.77 replaced the previous time of 1:08.10 set by teammate Lily Mott on Jan. 13, 2019.

The all-star meet was hosted by the Twin Cities Swim Team YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston in memory of its longtime coach Tom Manduca.

Swimmers selected had one of the two fastest times for events raced in their age group during the 2018-2019 YMCA league only. Selected swimmers were selected for one or two individual events and also were placed on 200 free or 200 medley relays.

The YMCA teams are divided  into three divisions. The Pen Bay Sailfish represented the Central Division along with Waldo County YMCA Bluefish of Belfast, Twin Cities Swim Team of Auburn-Lewiston, Mid-Maine Dolphins of Waterville and Kennebec Valley Stingrays of Augusta.
