RSU 13 announces summer meals program

Jun 12, 2018

Rockland — Regional School Unit 13 will provide Free breakfasts and lunches to children and adult family members during the summer. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, along with support from One Community Many Voice, and the Rockland Police Department’s CDBG-SN funding, has made this program possible again this year.

Each of the following programs will serve at various times and dates from June 18 to Aug. 10; The Penobscot Bay YMCA, Rockland Public Library, Flanagan Community Center, Camden Teen Center South School, Thomaston Grammar School, Thomaston Public Library, Johnson Memorial Park, Oceanside Middle School and Thomaston Recreation. There are no income requirements. Any child, age 18 and under, may come to eat, along with their adult family members. All meals must be eaten on site or at the approved community partner field trip/activity location.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult, unless the child is participating in a community partner sponsored and organized field trip or activity. A limited number of lunches are prepared in advance, then delivered to the community partners' sites daily. Meals are first come, first served, with children always being the priority. All meals are prepared in a kitchen where they may come in contact with peanuts.
