Thomaston — Although a detailed schedule of the remaining work on Route 1 in Thomaston has not yet been released, a briefing held April 10 shed some light on what to expect.

Superintendent John Fancy of the Thomaston Pollution Control Department said April 13 that Lane Construction Inc. plans to release a two- or three-week look ahead soon.

"I can tell you that Lane plans to move into town about the week of April 23 and begin construction the next week," Fancy said. "They plan to be completely finished and out of town by Memorial Day."

The schedule depends on the weather, as always.

Fancy said work remaining includes loaming and seeding, cleanup of lawns and drives, striping the road, installing detectable warning pads where sidewalks cross streets, installing missing signs and other items to complete the job.

In addition to the Main Street work, Lane will also finish the work around the Thomaston/Warren bridge that was begun last summer. This work includes finishing the paving, upgrading the guardrail, seeding and mulch and striping the road, according to Fancy.
