Rockland — Ronald L. Duswald Sr., 70, passed away peacefully March 6, 2018, at Sussman House in Rockport following a brief illness.

Born in Rockland Nov. 28, 1947, he was the son of Hollis Hamilton and Nellie Priscilla Allen Duswald. Growing up in Clark’s Island, he later returned to the Rockland and Waldoboro area. He was a self-educated man, and his proudest accomplishment was holding a commercial drivers license with all the endorsements. Ronald was a truck driver, and traveled all over the United States, eventually owning his own trucking outfit. He also worked at the local fisheries as a foreman.

Ronald enjoyed WCW wrestling and country music, especially Johnny Cash. He was a kind man with a good heart who would do anything for anyone.

Ronald was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Allen Kruger, Mark Kruger and Robert Kruger Sr. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Duswald, of Rockland; his five sons, Ronald Duswald Jr. of Rockland, Adam Duswald of Atlanta, Hollis Hamilton Duswald of Rockland, Luke Broderick of Hawaii and Anthony Vicelich of Rockland; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
