Rockport — The Rockport Public Library project has completed the first phase of the construction with the final pour of the foundation for the new Library at 1 Limerock St., Monday, Oct. 7.

Now the push is on by Phi Builders to get the floor deck on and the building closed in and weather-tight before Christmas. This next phase is where the building takes shape in a noticeable way and it will all take place during the next three months. Once closed in, it will look like nothing is happening all winter. This is not the case, as work will be happening inside.

Workers from Phi Builders and several sub-contractors will be constructing the interior of the library, installing all the electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems, while the snow is falling outside. The brick façade and windows will wait until spring when the weather gets warmer.

Anyone interested in this project can find weekly library construction reports on the town website, rockportmaine.gov. To receive the weekly reports, email an email address to Diane Hamilton at dhamilton@rockportmaine.gov.
