Rockport — Rockport’s property tax rate is increasing by 6.03 percent to $17.05 for each $1,000 of assessed value, according to a town press release. The largest portion of the increase is attributable to a 7.85 percent rise in the town’s share of school funding, which translates to an additional $802,002.

The town budget increased by 4.44 percent. The town's contribution to the county rose by 4.51 percent. Combined, those increases amount to an additional $312,528 in property taxes.

The school budgets now account for 68.47 percent of Rockport property taxes, up from 67.44 percent in the previous year, while the town budget is responsible for 24.92 percent, down from 25.84 percent. The percentage going to the county dropped to 6.61 percent from 6.72 percent.

During the assessment year ended March 31, Rockport saw “modest new construction/parcel split growth” adding $2,338,869 to the town’s property value, according to the press release.

Tax bills are scheduled to arrive during the week of Sept. 9.
