Rockland student in UMF Arts

Apr 13, 2018

Farmington — Theatre UMF will present its inaugural Festival of New Plays and original monologues Thursday and Friday, April 19 and 20; followed by the annual Arts Week, April 23 through 27, at the University of Maine at Farmington. Student Ian Grima of Rockland is part of both.

The New Plays were created through a collaborative workshop process, which provides creative writing and theater students an opportunity to write, direct and perform their original works for an audience. The performances, 7 p.m. both nights at the UMF Alumni Theater, are free and open to the public. Grima and fellow student Astra Pierson are performing "You Done?", written and directed by student Kristen Sarasin.

Arts Week features a variety of art installations, performances, presentations and new media throughout the UMF campus, all free and open to the public. Arts Week is sponsored by the UMF Division of the Arts; some content may be for mature audiences.

Tuesday night, April 24, there is a range of presentations beginning 6 p.m. at the Emery Community Arts Center. At 6:45 p.m., Grima and fellow student Jonas Maines will present "Fight Scene," an original stage combat scene they wrote and choreographed as part of Jayne Decker's Dramatic Performance class.
