Rockland — With the the deadline for candidates to file nomination papers to get on the Nov. 6 ballot, there is a shortage of candidates.

As of Friday afternoon, Sept. 7, no one had turned in papers for either the single open City Council seat or for three school board seats.

Two people have taken out papers for the council seat, but not returned them. The deadline for filing papers is Monday, Sept. 24.

Dale Hayward of North Main Street and Brandy Perkins of Marks Lane have taken out papers for the three-year seat.

The seat is held by Councilor Adam Ackor, who is not seeking reelection.

Thus far, there is only one candidate for three seats representing Rockland on the Regional School Unit 13 Board. Doug Curtis Jr. is seeking a three-year seat.

Two of the seats up for election will be for three years and one for one year.

The seats are held by Thomas Peaco, Nancy Jeffers and Vera Roberts.

Jeffers said she would not seek reelection. Peaco said he was uncertain if he would run again. Roberts was not immediately available for comment.
