Rockland — The city has received a complaint about stickers being posted on downtown light poles that attack the country's top infection disease control expert.

The stickers stating "Fauci is a fraud" were affixed to at least four of the downtown decorative light poles on Main Street near the intersection with Park Street.

Rockland Police Chief Christopher Young said attaching signs or stickers to light poles violates a city ordinance.

The ordinance is in Article 4, Section 12-401 of Rockland's local laws which prohibit attaching any type of sign on utility poles, fire hydrants, or other city property.

The signs are not signed by anyone.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He is an adviser to President Joe Biden.

This week, Fauci has urged people to watch the Super Bowl within their immediate households due to the coronavirus pandemic, saying large events could become “mini super spreader” events.

Previous events such as Thanksgiving and Christmas were followed by a spike in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

During the past few weeks, there has been a decline locally and statewide in cases, hospitalizations and death.

Voices with opinions are always welcome.  But putting stickers on light poles, that is just plain being a coward and childish!

Fauci deserves more than 417 G's a year for putting up with YouKnowWho glaring down his neck for a year trying to intimidate him into lying to us.

My understanding is that we all must continue to wear masks even if we have had the vaccine.

Is political disagreement now illegal? Dick McKusic is right that conversation is useful, because it helps us "clearly see which road we want to travel." J. S. Mill thought so too. It is a sad comment on our suppression of public dialog that people with dissenting views have to resort to stickers on lamp posts.

Goodwill Industries pays many executive well over $400,000 and yet pay disabled workers less than minimum wage. My point, it is all in how you package it. Money has lost its worth.

I'd rather have Fauci on the payroll as opposed to Mitch McConnell. Health over greed seems to me as a better investment.

I would suggest that those who post stupid signs like that compare credentials with Dr Fauci. The fraud rests with the anonymous posters, not with Fauci.

Fauci is 80 years old and is the highest paid Federal Employee at $417,608 for 2019.  Don't you think that it is time for him to step aside and make room for some younger people?  You talk about being on the Government tit!

Wearing a mask isn’t so much for self-protection, as it is an expression of love and caring for those around us. Everyone walking around with a mask sends a message that this is a community with a heart.  That said.. after I get the vaccine shots, I look forward to putting the masks away for good. We’ll all have to figure out another way to show our love.  Valentine’s Day won’t be enough.

Marjorie Greene visiting  mid-coast Maine? :)

So many positive, encouraging MASKED people all around us whom have helped bring about a decline in the virus.   HOOT!  HOOT!!  Suppose the balance does us good because we can clearly see which road we want to travel.  My choice has been made.
