Rockland library to be open as cooling center

Rockland — The city of Rockland will have its public library open as a cooling center.

The Facebook page for the Rockland Fire Department and Police Department announced that the Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will be open both Saturday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).

"Be safe this weekend and please share this post," the department stated on the Facebook page.

Temperatures are expected to be near 90 degrees on Saturday with a heat index of 99. Sunday is also expected to be hot, but cooler air is forecast for next week.
