Rockland — Rockland Public Library will host music journalist and radio host Aimsel Ponti for a Virtual Talk on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Ponti will discuss the local music scene in Portland, Maine, as well as the impact of the coronavirus on live music performances this year. She will also give an overview of her own career as a music journalist and radio host and talk about some of her favorite albums of 2020. The program will take place via the Zoom platform.

Ponti is a music journalist and content producer at the Portland Press Herald. She started as a freelancer in 2003 and has been full-time since 2011. Her weekly Face the Music column has been running in the Press Herald magazine section since August of 2003. Ponti also does artist interviews, show reviews, event previews, and food reviews for the Press Herald. Additionally, she has been appearing monthly for the past five years on the Newscenter Maine show 207, where she previews upcoming live music performances.

Ponti graduated from Keene State College with a B.A. in journalism. At Keene, she was very much involved with WKNH, the college’s radio station. She grew up in Andover, Mass. and has resided in the Portland area since the mid-1990s. Her biggest passion in life is the live music experience.
