Rockland Kiwanis Meeting Minutes for July 14, 2014

President Katie Tarbox called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Bill Batty, Jr. offered our invocation. Muriel Curtis and speaker Sarah Ruddy were our guests.

Committee Reports
The board meets this Wednesday at 7:30am. Board members, please come ready to discuss the bylaw changes. Our meeting on 07/28 will be an evening meeting featuring a family cookout here at The Samoset. We presented a $1000 check to Muriel Curtis of Station Maine. The Aktion Club meeting is this Wednesday. Tom Mellor mentioned they will be working at the Lobster Festival. Grand Raffle (GR): Only 34 tickets have been sold. We need to get moving.

Recognition of Members
Birthdays: Tom Mellor and Sumner Kinney
Club Anniversaries: Celia Knight, EJ Sullivan, Cliff Blastow, Sandy Millar, and Janet Page.
Secret Greeter: Again, no one in house admitted to it, so Greg Hamlin did his fill-in routine. He caught no one. Badges: Bobbie Wentworth didn't have hers. 50/50: Bobbie Wentworth didn't cut the Joker. EJ Sullivan won second prize. Janet Page won the attendance contest.

Greg Hamlin was happy for friends visiting, happy to sell 2 GR tix, and sad he had to leave the meeting early. Shannon Kinney was happy for a GR tix, and happy for the blues fest. Mark Curtis was sad he couldn't stay for the speaker. Jackie Harjula was happy for a GR tix, happy for the hot dog wagon, and happy for John Batty. Wayne Keiderling was happy for music. Tom Mellor was happy for the food wagon, happy for John Batty, and happy his son got engaged. Marjorie Kinney was sad her cell phone rang, and happy for Sumner Kinney's birthday. Gordon Page was happy for a GR tix. Keith Wass was sad summer traffic made him late to the meeting, and happy for Sumner's birthday. Doc Lombardi was happy Meals on Wheels had good coverage. Bill Batty Jr. was happy for daughter Julia's mission trip, happy for Katie Tarbox and Janet Page covering minutes for him, and happy to be playing jazz at The Slipway on Monday evenings. Katie Tarbox was happy for a new Guinea hen, and sad the fox was back.

Speaker: Sarah Ruddy spoke to us about the Strand Theater.
