Rockland Golf Club highlights include Keenan's Irish Open, women's play

Irish Open nets more than $5,000 for club maintenance

Rockland — The 15th annual Keenan's Irish Open produced much needed funds for the Rockland Golf Club and plenty of impressive golf.

The Saturday, Sept. 30 event raised $5,050 for the club's maintenance.

The results of the tourney were:

Flight 1 — James Anderson and Jamie Boutin, first gross 67; and Rob Splaine and Tom Griffith, first net 62,

Flight 2 — Jamie Chilles and Chris Radley, first gross 71; and Richard Moscowitz and Hank Read, first net 53.5,

Women's Flight — Tammy King and Jen Mazurek, first gross 84; and Becky Gamage/Madolin Fogarty, first net 62.5.

Mixed Flight — Kevin LaBree and Kathleen LaBree, first gross 81; and John Frye and Cheryl Frye, 56.5.

The pin winners were: Bob Sommers, 5-5, and Madolin Fogarty, 18-4, on the fifth hole; Jamie Chilles, 2-4, and Kathleen LaBree, 34-7, on the 10th; and Reade Brower, 2-0, and Madolin Fogarty, 21-10, on the 18th.

The chipping contest winners were Rob Splaine and Victor Goldsmith, while the putting contest winner was Lucas Brower.

On Thursday, Sept. 28, in women's association play, a Nines event, Kathy Harper finished first at 67; Joanna Schleif, second at 63; Jan Staples, Joyce Cooley and Janice Ogier, tied for third at 60; Madolin Fogarty, sixth at 57; and Diane Bryant, seventh at 56.

The pin winners were: Diane Bryant, 24-11 on the fifth hole; Faith Vautour, 14-9 on the 10th; and Joanna Schleif 28-2 on the 18th.
