Rockland — A Rockland couple has been charged with smuggling Suboxone strips, concealed in the spine of a Bible, into the Knox County Jail.

Stony Blue Vega, 34, currently serving a jail sentence, is facing a felony count of trafficking prison contraband and one count of attempted trafficking in prison contraband. Vega made an initial appearance in Sixth District Court April 4.

Vega's girlfriend, Alyssa Bennett, 18, of Rockland was arrested March 28 after she attempted to smuggle Suboxone strips concealed in a Bible into the jail, said court papers. According to the complaint filed, Bennett had brought the 8 mg strips into the jail once before, on March 1.

Bennett is charged with trafficking in prison contraband and unlawful possession of drugs.

When Knox County Sheriff's Deputy Nathaniel Jack informed Vega he was being charged for receiving the drugs, Vega told him to " add it to the list," and requested to see an attorney, according to an affidavit filed in Knox County Superior Court.

Vega and Bennett have been ordered not have contact.
