Rockland-area schools see teacher retirements

Rockland — Four longtime teachers in Regional School Unit 13 will retire at the end of the school year.

The four retirements, plus two resignations, are on the RSU 13 Board agenda. The board is scheduled to meet Thursday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m.

Oceanside Middle School guidance counselor Kevin Martin will be retiring after 32 years with the district and a total of 38 years in education.

Oceanside High School gifted and talented teacher Anne Pietroski is also retiring. She has been with the district for 30 years and has spent 35 years total in education.

Oceanside High School science teacher Paul Desaulniers will retire after 20 years with the district and 38 years total as a teacher.

South School music teacher Beverly Pacheco will be retiring after nine years with the district and 26 years total in education.

The board will also have resignation letters from James Boyd, music teacher in Cushing and Thomaston; and Smadar Calandri, a special education teacher at Oceanside Middle School. Both are in their first year in RSU 13. Boyd's resignation was effective March 12, while Calandri's is effective Aug. 31.

At the board's Feb. 1 meeting, members received the retirement notice for Owls Head Central School fifth-grade teacher Lorrie Callaway, effective at the end of the school year. She has been with the district for 18 years and has spent 39 years overall in teaching.
