Rockland-area school district sees staff changes

Rockland — The Rockland-area school district acted on staff changes at its Aug. 1 board meeting.

The board voted to appoint David "Jake" Carlson assistant principal at South School in Rockland; Anna Sanborn was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Thomaston Grammar School; Linda Wyler was hired as a school counselor at Oceanside Middle School in Thomaston; Scott Dyer was hired as music and band teacher at Ash Point Community School in Owls Head; Marian Hotopp was hired as music teacher at Oceanside Middle School; and Hillary Creighton was hired as special education case manager at Oceanside High School in Rockland.

The board also accepted the resignations of fifth-grade South School teacher Megan Marks; first-grade South School teacher Kelly Peavey; and Oceanside High School social studies teacher Neal Young.

Sorry to see Megan and Kelly leave.  I had the pleasure of teaching with them for a few years at South School before I retired and they were wonderful teachers.   Thrilled to have one of our own- Jake Carlson- as assistant principal of South.  No doubt he'll do a tremendous job.  He and Justin Bennett will make an amazing team.  Wishing everyone another fabulous year.
