Rock City: blues and then some

Jul 05, 2018
Vince “Blind Albert” Gabriel

Rockland — Rock City Café, 316 Main St., offers live music Friday through Sunday, July 13 through 15.

Friday night is the 15th annual Blind Albert Blues Jam hosted by Vince Gabriel, starting at 7 p.m. Those who wish to play should bring their ax and a small amp; there will be a house drum set and bass amp available. The title says it all: “ya gotta play the blues, and keep in mind this is a jam,” not an open mic. For more information, email blind_albert@yahoo.com.

Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Rock City provides a respite with the Ale House String Band featuring Brian Dunn on mandolin, April Reed-Cox on cello and Oren Robinson on guitar. Brought together by happy accident at Waldoboro’s downtown tavern, the trio will pick, pluck, bow, strum and sing within a day’s ride.

On Sunday, Rock City offers its annual blues fest weekend visit by Blue Gene, playing acoustic slide blues guitar from 9 a.m. to noon.

Food is available until closing. For more information on these and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or find it on Facebook.
