Warren — Richard Adams Ferren went to meet his Lord Saturday, June 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughters Carolyn and Nancy; son Jonathan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved and took great pride in his extended family.

Richard was born to Roger and Lucy Ferren Dec. 21, 1927. He graduated from Danvers (Mass.) High School and served in the Army. He was shop foreman for many years at Sirois Leather in Peabody, Mass. In the late 1970s, Richard and Audrey moved to Warren, where they were proprietors of The Sheepskin Shop on Route 90.

Richard loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, canoeing and especially hiking, as well as chopping firewood and building stone walls. He and his son, Jonathan, are members of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s New England 4000 Footer Club. Richard was active in The Warren Historical Society and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Route 17, Rockland. A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 11 a.m. July 13,  at the church, followed by ice cream.

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests a donation to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15 Wesley Lane, Rockland, ME 04841 in his memory.
