Retirement party for Chief Kelley to be held July 7

Rockport — There will be retirement party to honor former Rockport Police Chief Mark Kelley Thursday, July 7, at 6 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House.

Kelley is retiring after three decades of service to the community. Kelley's last day is scheduled for July 1 and as he took a little down time this summer, which includes an extended motorcycle trip.

In April, the Select Board took an opportunity during its monthly meeting to recognize Kelley for 30 years on the force.

Kelley joined the force March 27, 1986, and became the chief after the retirement of Forrest Doucette in 1996.
