Rapaport on ‘Friendship Matters’

Jun 16, 2017

Camden — Camden Public Library will welcome psychologist and author Wendy Rapaport Tuesday, June 27, at 7 p.m. Rapaport is a local psychologist who has taught at the University of Maine School of Social Work for the last 25 years.

In their new book, “Friendship Matters,” two respected clinical psychologists and “best friends” — Rapaport and Sandra Bernstein — examine the superpowers of the best friend relationship and the life skills we all have, to give more and get more from these essential relationships.

Iconic “best friend” relationships permeate film, TV, literature and in our personal lives. In “Friendship Matters,” the meaning of friendship is explored in the personal case study of the two authors, friends for 47 years, as they examine the complexities of maintaining a good friendship.

The authors’ years of clinical practice, postdoctoral training and applied research have led them to prioritize relationships in enhancing mental and physical health. In their book, they use the example of their own friendship to explore the power of this connection. For more information on the book and authors, visit the book’s Facebook page.
