Ram homecoming races for Windjammers, Lions, Mustangs

Wyman again leads charge as Camden Hills girls remain unbeaten with team effort

Augusta — Teenage cross-country runners from Camden Hills of Rockport, Belfast and Mount View of Thorndike pushed themselves physically and emotionally on Friday, Sept. 27 as the Windjammers, Lions and Mustangs competed in Cony's homecoming high school meet.

When the dust had settled, the Camden Hills girls, unbeaten on the season, and Bangor boys had earned the top spots.

Individually, Bangor's Lydia Gilmore finished first among the 80 girls in 20:28.35, while her teammate, Daniel McCarthy, was first among the 127 boys in 17:10.82.

For Midcoast student-athletes, Camden Hills' Claire Wyman was third among the girls and her teammate Hayden Thibeault 12th for the boys.

The boys team scores were: Bangor 24, Hampden Academy 55, Cony 83, Erskine Academy of South China 128, Camden Hills 137, Belfast 149, Edward Little of Auburn 195, Gardiner 207, Skowhegan 209 and Mount View no score.

The girls team scores were: Camden Hills 49, Bangor 64, Cony 81, Waterville 111, Hampden Academy 137, Edward Little 146, Belfast 162, Gardiner 172, Skowhegan 245 and Erskine Academy 248.
