Rockport — Georges River Land Trust will present a lively illustrated talk by Carey Kish, author and editor of “The Quintessential Guide to Hiking in Maine,” Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Maine Sport Outfitters, 115 Commercial St./Route 1.

Kish’s free presentation is in conjunction with Maine Sport’s winter nonprofit weekend. Maine Sport Outfitters will donate 5 percent of the March 22 through 24 gross sales to Georges River Land Trust, to be used to help build phase two of the Oyster River Multi-Use Trail in the Thomaston Town Forest. There also will be a free raffle for a four-person guided paddle with GRLT.

Kish will present a whirlwind tour of mountain hiking in Maine through pictures and stories; and have signed copies of the “Quintessential Guide” for sale. Kish is a veteran hiker, outdoors and travel writer, photographer, Registered Maine Guide and certified funmeister. He has completed some two dozen long distance trails in the United States, Canada and Europe. He is the longtime hiking and camping columnist for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram; and writes the outdoor adventure blog “Maineiac Outdoors” at MaineToday.com.
