Public Meeting to Discuss the Flanagan Community Center

ZOOM meeting
Oct 19, 2020
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

A subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Committee has been meeting to discuss the future of the Flanagan Community Center.  For the past five years the City has contracted with the YMCA to provide services at the Community Center and that contract has now ended.  The question now is what would the community like to see happening at their Community Center?

There are so many possibilities beyond sports for our youth and we need to hear from the community.  COVID-19 has certainly curtailed activities for now, but this is the time to plan for the future.  Would your book club or board like to meet there?  Would you like to bring your toddler to play at the Toy Library?  Would you enjoy teaching kids to play chess or checkers?  What about an after school program with homework help?   Maybe a family paint night in the art room? Maybe some new sports like badminton?  How about movie nights, musical performances or plays?  What about yoga classes, contra dancing, mahjong, knitting?  The Community Center has so much potential.

Join us at a Zoom meeting on Monday, October 19 from 6 to 7 pm.  We’d like to hear how you’d like to see the Community Center used.  Come Zoom with us – send an email to and we’ll send you the link for the meeting.  Or if you prefer, you can just email us with your thoughts and ideas.
