Professor turned farmer speaks on the simple life Oct. 17

Sep 13, 2018

Camden — John H. Twomey, Ph.D., author of "Retiring To, Not From: From Massachusetts Professor to Maine Farmer," will talk about the benefits of living simply and sustainably Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Camden Public Library, 55 Main St. The event is free, but requires advance registration by calling 921-6116 or emailing qhinfo@pbmc.org.

In 2009, after 37 years as a professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Twomey and partner Leigh moved to an aging Montville homestead that Twomey had purchased in 1978. Living entirely off the grid, the pair produce their own food and firewood while working to maintain and improve the farm’s wildlife habitat. Twomey's book (copies of which will be available for purchase and signing) has been heralded as essential reading for anyone seeking to live in harmony with the natural world.
