Prison drug dealing dominates Knox County indictments

Rockland — Fourteen people were indicted Monday by a Knox County grand jury that met for a single day to hear cases presented by the state.

Most of the cases centered on allegations of drug dealing within the Maine State Prison in Warren.

Indicted were the following:

Justin Gibson Pillsbury, 44, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on June 24, 2018.

Ryan Edward Spaulding, 29, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband on Nov. 19, 2018 (suboxone).

Jason L. Goucher-Hewett, 34, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband on Nov. 19, 2018 (suboxone).

Goucher-Hewett was also indicted for Class B aggravated assault on July 3 at the prison.

Suzanne A. Adams, 71, Bowdoin, trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on Aug. 30, 2018 in Warren by trying to provide the drug to prisoner Jason Adams.

Jason M. Adams, 38, from the state prison, was also indicted for trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on Aug. 30, 2018.

Byron N. Smith, 40, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on Aug. 30, 2018.

Patrick M. Kilburn, 48, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on Aug. 30, 2018.

Vincent John Teruel, 42, Maine State Prison, trafficking in prison contraband (suboxone) on Oct. 7, 2018.

Michael R. Salmons, 31, Quincy, Mass., Class B unlawful trafficking in cocaine base and Class C conspiracy to commit trafficking on Oct. 13 and Nov. 26, 2018 in Warren. The state also obtained an indictment for criminal forfeiture of $2,980 that Salmon had.

Ezra Hickey, 24, Hope, Class B aggravated assault on May 8 in Hope; misdemeanor domestic violence assault on May 8 in Hope.

Carryton R. Edwards, 31, Newport, R.I., Class A aggravated assault on May 27 in Rockland; Class C assault on May 27 in Rockland. Both charges were filed at more serious classes because of prior assault convictions.

Scott D. Darville, 56, West Gardiner, two counts of aggravated forgery and two counts of theft, all on Dec. 16, 2018 in both Union (at Four Corner Variety) and Washington (Jackson Country Store). He is accused of passing counterfeit bills at the stores.

James Stone, 48, Biddeford, unauthorized use of property (Jan. 5 in Cushing); operating after suspension.

Jeremiah J. Parker, 22, Thomaston, Class C theft on Dec. 3, 2018 in Rockland; violation of a condition of release. The theft was increased in seriousness due to prior theft convictions. Parker was also indicted for two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, theft, and criminal mischief on July 30. 2018 in Rockland. And Parker was also indicted for three counts of felony theft on Aug. 3 and 4 in Rockland.

I thought the prison just got an award for being top notch.
