Preston, Widdecombe and Anderson receives Rockland Elks awards

Apr 07, 2021
Rockland Firefighter Carl Anderson was presented with the Rockland Elks Citizen of the Year by Pamela Heal of the Elks club.

Rockland — Awards night at the Rockland Elks was held recently. Exalted Ruler Pamela Heal presented Rockland Elks of the Year to Alfred Chipper Widdecombe.

Officer of the Year was presented to Richard Preston for all behind-the-scenes work he has done for many years. Both of these members have been involved with the Elks for more-than 40 years.

Exalted Ruler Pamela Heal wanted to present the Elks Citizen of the Year to someone in the community who was outstanding. A gentleman who kept participating in Flag Day and 9/11 ceremonies became interesting to her. Heal checked into his activities in the community and found he was very active. She found a YouTube of him reading to students during the pandemic. Rockland Firefighter Carl Anderson was presented with the Rockland Elks Citizen of the Year.

The Rockland Elks is a fraternal and charitable organization. Each year the local organization presents 10 scholarships. They support the local homeless shelter, Knox Clinic and the AIO Food Pantry.
