Powers, Weidman seek one seat on Hope Select Board

Hope — Incumbent Brian Powers Jr. will be running against Charles Weidman this June to serve concurrently on the Hope Select Board, board of assessors, and as overseer of the poor.

Powers currently serves as chairman of the Board of Selectmen. The term of the seat is for three years.

There are two vacancies on the town's budget committee, each for a term of three years. Incumbent William Jones has returned papers seeking reelection to the committee; no one returned papers for the other seat.

The deadline to return nomination papers was April 13. No citizens returned papers for the following positions:

Two seats on the Union 69 Hope School Board for terms of three years. The seats are currently held by board chair Thomas Ingraham and Heather Quesnal.

The following non-elected positions in town did not receive applications. These positions would have been appointed by the board of selectmen:

There is one opening on the planning board for a five-year seat currently held by board chair John Fallows.

There are three open seats, for terms of five years each, on the board of appeals. One seat is currently held by Ronald Wright.

Three seats are open on the recreation committee, all of which are for terms of one year and are vacant at this time.

Five seats are available on the cemetery committee. One seat is currently held by Marie Powers, and the remaining four seats are vacant. Terms on the cemetery committee are three years.

Election day is June 12. The Hope Town Office is located at 441 Camden Road.
