Thomaston — F&A's Market at 495 Main St. has closed its doors.

A posting on Facebook June 21 stated:

"It's sad but true... EVERYTHING must go! No reasonable offer refused. TODAY starting at 3 p.m. come in and get deals on everything in the store!"

The convenience store also offered a cafe, and was owned and operated by Forrest and Ann Brown.

Last year, F&A's Market planned to open a store at the former Crossroads Market on North Main Street in Rockland.

That store did open last June under new ownership, and was named Oceanside Deli.

An attempt to contact the Browns for comment has not been responded to as of this posting.

Unfortunately, old men sipping coffee at a table for a couple hours doesn't help pay the bills. :-(

I remember when it was a friendly place for a hearty and inexpensive breakfast.  A place to sit and watch the old men chat , sip their coffee and tell war stories on a cold winters morning.  Those days and places are passing quickly being replaced by out of state corporate impersonal convenience giants for gas cheesy pasteries, greasy pizza and lottery tickets.
